Review buku..Yakjuj & Makjuj: Bencana dari sebalik gunung

Housemate saya bawa buku ni balik ke rumah 3 - 4 minggu lepas, maaf lupa tarikhnya. Tengah-tengah menonton TV terpandang buku ni terletak kat dalam bilik dia. Gambar depan macam menarik, dan setelah saya lihat tajuknya, serta-merta minat timbul. Buku ini berkenaan kisah Yakjuj & Makjuj, satu bangsa yang akan keluar sebagai salah satu tanda besar hari kiamat akan tiba.

Sebenarnya, banyak cerita yang saya telah dengar mengenai Yakjuj dan Makjuj ni. Antara yang paling glamour sekali, bangsa ini dikurung oleh Iskandar Zulkarnain dengan tembok besi. Setiap hari mereka akan cuba mengorek kurungan itu, tetapi setiap kali waktu azan dan azan dilaungkan, tembok itu akan tertutup kembali. Walaubagaimanapun mereka tidak berputus asa dan terus mengorek sampai hari kiamat di mana mereka muncul.


Bagaimanapun, membaca buku ini membuka perspektif baru. Penulisnya menyatakan bahawa bangsa Yakjuj dan Makjuj ini berasal bangsa Scythia (rujuk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scythia) yang juga berasal daripada susur galur bangsa Yahudi. Yakjuj dan makjuj ini, atau dalam bahasa Inggeris Gog and Magog kini mempunyai keturunan dan susur galur yang besar, terbentang daripada bangsa Mongolia, Tartar, Poland, Ukraine, selatan Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus dan lain-lain negara Eropah selatan. Malah, penulis juga menyatakan bahawa bangsa English/England dan sebahagian bangsa Amerika juga adalah keturunan bangsa Scythia ini. Persoalannya, mungkinkah serangan Amerika terhadap negara-negara Islam kini boleh dianggap sebagai initial attack of Gog and Magog kepada dunia? Wallahuallam.


Dinyatakan juga bahawa tanda-tanda kiamat ialah keluarnya bangsa Yakjuj dan Makjuj ini menyerang dunia. Dikatakan kekuatan mereka tiada tandingan dan tidak mampu ditahan oleh sesiapa. Umat Islam akan lari bertempiaran di gunung-gunung untuk mencari perlindungan. Akhirnya, Allah akan menurunkan serangan sejenis ulat yang akan menggigit batang leher bangsa ini sehingga mereka menjerit kesakitan dan berlaku kematian besar-besaran bagi kaum ini.

Merging plan..

It was confirmed last week that NEC Electronic Corp has started discussion on possible merge with Renesas. My boss informed department members during our weekly Wednesday department meeting.

According to the plan, both parties have reached an agreement to start serious discussion on merging plan on July 2008, and the merge will be official on the 23rd April 2009.

Brief history about Renesas, it is a company that was born when Mitsubishi Electric merged with Hitachi Ltd on 1st April 2003, and in 2008 the company's revenue was USD 7017 million (6th place), while NEC Semiconductors revenue was USD 5826 million (11th place). Should the merge becomes a reality, total sales of both companies will be about 12.8 million USD, which should bring this new entity to number 3 in the world semiconductor sales ranking (just behind Intel corp and Samsung electronics).

I'm currently in discrete devices division. One of my colleague told me, Renesas has much bigger discrete devices plant in Kulim, Kedah..which brought me thought about possibility (maybe) of being transfered to Kulim. Meanwhile, all workers are being advised to work as normal.

I wonder what future will bring...

Zai's Wedding

I went to Zai's wedding yesterday. I attached few pictures of this wonderful event. Congrats Zai and Azizan!

Interesting facts..the Red Cross and the Red Crescent emblem originality

(1) Did you know, the originality of these emblems were dated back in the Russo-Turkish war (1877 - 1878)

(2) The war was fought between Russia, allied with Balkan countries (named Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro and Romania), and Ottoman Turks empire due to raising nationality spirit and to remove Ottoman power from the Balkan lands.

(3) Both Russia and the Ottoman Empire had signed the First Geneva Convention (1864), which made the Red Cross, a color reversal of the flag of neutral Switzerland, the sole emblem of protection for military medical personnel and facilities.

(4) However, this emblem reminded the Ottoman about crusades, so they elected to replace it with Red Crescent emblem instead. This was followed by other Muslim countries across the world.

(5) Thus, both this emblems still remain today, as representative of protection.

How good is your English

Gosh...his English was good. There were several new words that I learned just by reading the articel. Enjoy it, and lets learn together.


OBAMA AND THE FINANCIAL CRISIS

1. When President Obama made a bid for three trillion dollars in order to deal with the financial crisis, I assumed that like the immediate past President and the Head of the Federal Reserve, he was going to use the money to bail out the failed banks and financial institutions.

2. This would be an exercise in futility (maksudnya sia-sia) because those banks and institutions failed because they cheated, because they abused the system. The only way they could be restored is by allowing them to cheat and abuse again, creating money out of thin air and lending 20 to 30 times more of this money to the funds held by the borrowing institutions for them to invest. It is this practice which has precipitated (maksudnya menyegerakan) the financial crisis.

3. The bailouts have clearly failed. Increasing the amounts of bailout will not result in success. The failure will only get worse. It's the classical sending good money after bad money.

4. Now Obama and Brown are talking of going against the powerful financial elites. Brown implicated a shadow banking system based in financial havens (maksudnya perlindungan) - a system that has been beyond the control of Governments, and bereft of rules and regulation.

5. For decades the shadow banking system has been raping the world. Previous Governments had been forced to cover up their depredations (maksudnya kemusnahan). The bubble they created should have burst earlier. But the political elites did not have the guts. And so the abuses and cheatings had gone on until they became so big that cover-ups became no longer possible.

6. And when the bubble bursts the miscreants (maksudnya orang jahat (scoundrels)) expected as a matter of right for the political backers to help then recover through bailouts with public money.


7. Now it seems there is a leader who dares to take on the powerful financial barons.

8. If I am not wrong I think Obama is about to destroy the cozy relationship between the American political elites and the financial elites.

9. This is because the only way to stop the rot is to destroy completely all the failed banks and financial institutions including the great insurance companies. They must not be revived, much less restored to their former selves.

10. Their victims should be helped out but they too must not be fully recompensed.

11. The world must return to doing real business - that of producing goods and supplying services. This will lead to the economies of the rich in particular to shrink. The GDP and the per capita will be much reduced.

12. There is no way this impoverishment (maksudnya memiskinkan) of the rich can be avoided. There is no way the world can avoid a shrinkage of the total world economy, if we are going to stop a repetition of this financial crisis.


13. I hope Mr Obama will break the stranglehold of the financial elites on the political elites of America.
